In this month of October, we found the Say No To Drugs France volunteers very active across the country which is also focusing on the final results for the 2023 Rugby World Cup ending the October 28 in the Stade de France at St-Denis, near Paris. The final result was the tight victory of the Springboks of South Africa (12 points) on the All Blacks of New Zeland (11 points).

Meanwhile, across France, Alain, Aline, Anne, Carine, Catherine, Cathy, Chantal, Christian, Christiane, Christina, Christine, Christophe, Claire, Clement, Clementine, Coco, Colette, Corinne, Dominique, Elisabeth, Emmanuelle, Eric, Fazia, Fred, Gerard, Isabelle, Jean, Jean-Pierre, Jeremy, Josiane, Laetitia, Laurence, Maïna, Marc, Marie-Jo, Martin, Martine, Mona, Patrick, Regine, Richard, Robert, Rose-May, Sylvain, Vanina, Veronique, Victor, William, Yves, Zelda, and… were actively informing and distributing the booklets “The Truth About Drugs”.

Indeed, the volunteers were spreading the information on drugs, what they are and and what they do in villages, towns and cities such as: Aigueperse, Angers, Aubiere, Avignon, Baillet-en-France, Bouffemont, Chateaurenard, Cheix-sur-Morge, Clermont-Ferrand, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice, Paris, St Denis, St-Pourçain-sur-Sioule, Thiers, Toulouse, Villefranche-sur-Saone, and…
During the month about 15,000 booklets were distributed to the public and 335 shops of any kind visited, some owners even being very enthusiastic about this prevention action.

The volunteers were always very well welcomed by the public, whether it’s young people and parents but also by shopkeepers, teachers, officials and representatives of different public services. They had the possibility to correct many false ideas about the inocuity of the “popular” drugs. The girls are more concerned by the drug subject and always eager to get more data for them and as future mothers, showing a higher level of responsibility about life.

Several times the volunteers met former drug addicts who explained how their lives where destroyed by ignorance before they realized the danger: “If I had known, I would never have started”…
One public explained how after the drug he became hooked to the subutex given as a substitution drug and now is placed under methadone; a strange way to rehabilitate the people ! Passing from illegal drug to legal drugs !
A young lady told about her treatment with antidepressants telling she has lost 10 years of her life and failed her schooling. Another one, now shopkeeper told that she had studied these booklets when in school and never forget the lessons.
Other youngsters said that they used the data from the booklets to do a 1 h lecture in their class and were congratulated by the teachers. Others to give to friends who are drug users. Some municipal officers reported that the youth are more and more aware of the nature of the drug scourge.
