Icelandic Prevention Model

The FDFE Representative attended in Reykjavik (Iceland) from 30th May to 1st June 2018 the Planet Youth Workshop based on the Icelandic Primary Prevention Model developed in 1998. The Agenda organized by the Icelandic Centre of Social research and Analysis (ISCRA) was divided in 3 parts: Setting the Scene, Core factors and Resources. There were about 70 participants coming from around the world (Canada, Russia, USA, and Europe), interested by the success obtain by Iceland in getting the youth drinking dropping from 42% to 5%. Based on research there were 4 key points to consider: Family Factors, Peer Group, Unstructured Activities and Organized Youth Work. Geneva « out of the Hell »!...

The Say No To Drugs team of Geneva held several booths and distributed about 5000 educative booklets The Truth About Alcohol and The Truth About Drugs informing on the harmful effects of drugs either in the shops or at the Cornavin station. In addition many flyers to order booklets were also distributed in letter boxes. Their action is always successful not only with the youth eager to discover more about these substances but also with the parents and adults, to get data for their personal knowledge. In many cases the volunteers had the youth, from 13 and 20 year old, coming back to the booth to get more booklets to distribute to their peers. Geneva shopkeepers and SNTD

The Say No To Drugs Geneva Team went to do prevention information actions across the city and at Cornavin, the main railway station in Geneva. They visited more than 100 shopkeepers and businesses, informing them that they could be a key relay point for reducing the drug demand and protect the population. When told about the importance of providing to their clients correct data on the harmful effects of drugs, they were eager to cooperate. Indeed, educating the parents is the first way to tackle the drug problem and to protect the children. Slovakia: The Truth About Drugs Team...

« Addressing to the children, we need to be faster than drug dealers. We need to fill in the vacuum on the drug reality with proper data to protect them sustainably » says Peter from the Slovensko Bez Drog (Drug Free Slovakia) Team. Martin Madej (singer), Milan Skriniar (soccer), Matej Toth (olympic athlete), Martin Valihora (drummer), Patrik Vrbovsky « rytmus »( rapper) are supporting the drug prevention education. Since 2009, the Say No To Drugs Slovakia Team is carrying on with drug prevention lectures and by the end of 2017 they did 1,068 lectures attended by 36,275 children in different schools of Slovakia.
