On 9 December 2019 in the frame of the Celebration of the 71th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR-1948), and in the wake of the 30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the FDFE Representative was invited to participate to the event organized by the Associazione per i Diritti Umani e la Tolleranza, United Planet and Fundacion Mejora, all having the UN ECOSOC status. The Secretary-General appoints Ms. Ghada Fathi Waly of Egypt as Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime NEW YORK, 21 November – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today announced the appointment of Ghada Fathi Waly of Egypt as the next Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).  Ms. Waly will also serve as Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).  She succeeds Yury Fedotov of the Russian Federation to whom the Secretary-General is grateful for his dedicated service to the Organization. On 3-4 June 2019 in the famous palace Hofbug in Vienna (Austria) was held, under the Chairmanship of Slovakia, the 2019 OSCE-wide Conference on Combating the Threats of Illicit Drugs and the Diversion of Chemical Precursors. The topic was: Evolving Threat of Synthetic Drugs: from Addiction to Rehabilitation and Reintegration. Some 113 Ministers, Ambassadors, Representatives of world Governments, the Holy See,* International Agencies such as UNODC*, INCB*, EUROPOL*, DEA*,OSCE, SELEC*, the European Union,* were attending including a few selected NGOs among which FDFE. FDFE was invited to deliver a presentation about the importance of prevention to combat the drug problem.
