And what about Spain? The Say No To Drugs Spain volunteers Team  were in the streets and parks of eight cities to spread the right information about the harmful effects of the drug consumption. In the main cities Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Zaragoza, Bilbao but also in Alicante and Vitoria they were 84 volunteers of the associations La Verdad Sobre las Drogas distributing their informative booklets to educate the youth and public on what really the drugs are and to remind the people that there is neither Soft drugs nor Recreative drugs but only Drugs !

On the 26 June, the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Guterres, concluded his Message on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking (1) by Together, we can ensure that all people can live in health, dignity and peace, with security and prosperity” and the first step is Prevention as emphasized by the UNODC Executive Director, Mr. Yuri Fedotov:“But as daunting as these problems are, all of us can do our part and take action,” underlining that prevention is truly better than cure.

To comply with these statements and following the 2016 UNGASS (2) consensus, the Spanish Say No To Drugs Team of volunteers distributed for this Day no less than 26,250 booklets across the country.
