FDFE at the IOZDP.UA online Conference


On 17 and 18 November 2021, the State Institution “Institute for Child and Adolescent Health Care of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (IOZDP NAMS) of Ukraine – VN Karazin Kharkiv National University” (founded in 1922) had organized an online Conference entitled: Current Issues of physiology, pathology and organization of medical care for children and adolescents – Scientific and practical online conference with international participation.

This conference was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of a prominent scientist, pediatrician, doctor of medical sciences, professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine : Korenev Mykola Mykhailovych, who held the post of director of the IOZDP NAMS from 1986 to 2017.                                                                                                                                        For the Opening, the current director of the Institute Professor Georgy Danylenko, Doctor of medical Sciences, introduced the Day One first session with a presentation entitled: “Professor M. Korenev. Ways of becoming a scientist”; and he also gave the Closing Remarks on Day Two.

On the first day of the Conference, 28 high level speakers were presenting their works, followed by 27 on the next day. All the presentations were centered on the health and the care of the youth (children and adolescents) and the importance of the role of parents,, health professionals and educators.

The FDFE Representative invited, did a 20mn presentation: Cannabis and Youth: Let’s Talk About! exposing why and how cannabis is harming the development from the embryo (with smoking mother) to the adolescent age, and how this could be prevented with adequate educational materials as proposed by the Foundation for a Drug-Free World.

The FDFE Representative reminded also that the parents, teachers, health professionals, religious leaders and also governments have a key role to play in the protection of the youth from the harming drug use ; this can be done  with adequate information and prevention measures. And that everyone is concerned in this task because if “The single most destructive element in our current culture is drugs” as said the humanist L.Ron Hubbard, “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing” E. Burke.
