In theCzechRepublic, theDrug-FreeCzechRepublic teamhasbeenbroadly spreading thedrug-
freemessage, galvanizing sports clubs and youth across the country throughdrug-freebicycling
and runs.
Since2002, the“Run for aDrug-FreeCzechRepublic”hasbeenheld tobring the truthaboutdrugs
to youth across the country. After the success of thefirst year’s event, bicycleswereadded to the
marathon to reach even farther locations and the “Cyclorun”was born. Covering approximately
1,300 kilometers over two weeks, it is an anti-drug roadshow that brings factual information
throughout the republic. The event takes place every June to coincidewith the UnitedNations
International DayagainstDrugAbuseand IllicitTrafficking.
Since its inception, the annual Cyclorunhas followed a very successful pattern. Along the route,
the team holds events in town squares and sports stadiums to forward the drug-freemessage.
City officials join crowds of town residents to sign pledges for a drug-free community and the
team informs the local and regional officialsof thedrugpreventionactivities theycarryout.
